Seeking Designers, Models, PRs, Fashion Stylists, Makeup Artists, Socialites, Photographers and Bloggers.
The event is to help promote the talented black designers and models that she felt were being ignored by the industry. "I thought it was right ... to try to do something to help my own people and to get more exposure," she says. "It was not saying them they were wrong, it was saying, 'OK, we are here, like Gucci, Versace or Tommy Hillfiger.
"It was also a statement [to] the fashion industry, 'stop this discrimination, black is beautiful in all shades..

How many black owned fashion designers do you know off the top of your head? Well today many black designers aren’t recognized and are mostly excluded from high-scale events such as NYFW. Creative Director Karmisha Superville and Beauty Within TV founder, Anissa Rochester created #blackfashionmatters campaign showcase this September NYFW 16, we hope to restore black unity, to promote black beauty through positive lenses, and to increase black owned businesses. We also hope to uplift the community and challenge younger generation of designers. A portion of the proceeds raised will be donated to an after-school program in the East Flatbush, Brooklyn that is operated by Sesame Flyers. This program assist young black people with gun prevention and a life of violent.
We are seeking designers, models, editors to be part of this campaign.
