Irene Major Talks Human Rights in Africa & Ghana Meets Naija

Irene Major is currently carrying a baby but you wouldn't even know it by all the major moves she's making. The gorgeous doting wife, model, mother, socialite and singer has been on the forefront of a human rights campaign that she curated to protect the lives of the LGBT community in Africa who are targeted, abused and at times have been killed because of their sexuality. As a woman who was raised to love without discrimination and borders, Irene felt compelled to create the G.I.Y campaign in the hopes that her efforts and awareness will help pass legislation that can protect the LGBT community from being victimized.

"I believe in fairness and human rights for all.  Personally I don't think that you can be a person of faith and condone abuse and killings.  Right is right and wrong is wrong.  My hope is to bring Africa together in a way that allows every individual to thrive and live a life without fear and prejudice. My stance on human rights is against any type of violence towards anyone including children and women.  Too often we validate abuse because of tradition but we have to advance from this," shared Major.

Well if there is one thing that brings people together its music.  Irene recently jumped on board for the Ghana Meets Naija concert that will take place in the U.K for the first time.  Spearheaded by award winning broadcaster, Bola Ray, Ghana’s leading events powerhouse, Empire Entertainments has joined forces with UK’s prominent Afro-culture promoters to premiere the International Edition of the “Ghana Meets Naija” concert on Friday, 25th August 2017.  "Everything Bola Ray touche turns to gold so I feel so blessed to be part of Ghana Meets Naija," explained Major.

The company’s flagship event has been a purely Ghanaian-Nigerian musical concert meant to showcase top musicians from both nations as they indulge the audience in a thrilling party atmosphere. Wizkid, Davido, Shatta Wale and Tiwa Savage have all been part of the mega concert. The upcoming edition will showcase various top international acts.  With the combined prowess of Abrantee (UK), Akwaaba (UK), Alordia Promotions (UK), Desire Events (UK) and West Coast Entertainment (UK), the anticipated sell-out-show will feature performances from both foreign and UK-based artistes, a titillating DJ battle and a rave into the early morning hours. Irene says it was only common sense that she came on board as a sponsor. “I support anything that is uplifting, African and brings people together.  We need to come together put differences aside and build and grow,” said Major.
