At Pier 94 in NYC the AD Design Show wowed with 420 exceptional design brands, 11 powerful programs and a myriad of special events.



The show displayed the latest state-of-the-art appliances from brands like Jenn-Air and Gaggenau will offer serious kitchen inspiration. New collections from top furniture designers will keep you up-to-date on decorating trends. And with more than 117 new exhibitors this year—69 of them in the show’s craft-centric Made section—you’ll discover a hand-selected roster of up-and-coming designers creating furnishings, ceramics, and textiles, many of them based right here in the U.S.

We were greeted and treated to two cocktails receptions. There was more selection of 
better wines and liquors. Then we enjoyed our fine dinner in the grand ballroom.
The Mistress of Ceremonies, Sade Baderinwa, WABC-TV, was fine engaging host.
The Honorable Mayor Bill de Blasio came by to lend his continued support. He has helped the 
organization and was proud of their efforts on various programs.
The first honoree was George W. Brooks, United Parcel Service, Inc., President of UPS East 
Region. He worked his way up in UPS career in 1983 first starting as a package handler in 
Georgia and after being promoted into management. He is a director of Chicago Urban 
Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. New York County,  District Attorney, also has been actively involved in 
sentencing reform policy, conviction integrity and prosecutorial oversight, and has donated his 
time to the representation of indigent defendants. 
Rodney Williams of Moet-Hennessy, USA, Executive Vice President, was another honoree. 
He could not make it but his staff came to talk about Moet and about him. He is responsible 
for the #1 selling Cognac brand in the US. Before his job at Moet, he lead the marketing team 
behind the innovative launch of OnStar for General Motors.  He leads an active life by sitting 
on the boards of Pkolino LLC, a manufacturer of innovative children's furniture; and Cal 
Humanities, which promotes cultural literacy in partnership with the National Endowment for 
the Humanities.
Member of the Year was given to Horace Barker of Morgan Stanley. He is also a broad 
member of NY City University School of Professional Studies, Foundation Board
Monifa Bandele of MonsRising. org received the Betty Shabazz Community Service 
Award.  She is the Senior Campaign Director for the Food Justice and Children’s Nutrition 
One Hundred Black Men was founded in 1963 by a group of successful African-American 
men that pooled their valuable resources to impact the Black community. The organization 
provides scholarships, educational support, economic empowerment, mentoring, health and 
wellness initiatives, and serves as an overall voice of the African American community.
The funds raised by their gala, golf and tennis and other ways helps provided $100,000 in 
college scholarships to 51 talented graduating students from a dozen New York City public 
high schools at a ceremony earlier this summer at the  Metropolitan Museum of Art. 
Another valuable resource and program is their Eagle Academy Foundation 
(, which has launched six secondary schools serving 2,000 students located 
in New York City and Newark, New Jersey. Students at these all-male public schools are 
predominately African-American and Latino with approximately 75% of students qualifying for 
free and reduced-price lunch, indicating the majority are from low-income households living at 
or below the poverty line. The Eagle graduation rate is 78% compared to 50% in NYC and 
52% nationally for African American and Latino males. 100% of Eagle graduates were 
accepted into college in 2013 – 2014. 
Many utilize their annual Economic Empowerment Summit to increase MWBE utilization and 
The Holiday Hunger Relief program works with community and corporate partners to deliver 
healthy meals to residents and their families during the holiday season. In late November and 
early December, One Hundred Black Men distributes thousands of meals to families of four 
which qualify for WIC or SNAP. Over the past three years, we have served over 25,000 low-
income families in New York.

Unmasking the stars behind the scenes has been Carol “Butterfly Tia” Dunkley’s goal for years.  The fearless and gorgeous entrepreneur and mother got tired of the fact that too many people in entertainment, business and media go un-noticed no matter how exemplary their contribution is to our society and world.  “There are women and men who tirelessly behind the scenes to create the finished products that we all marvel about,”begins Dunkley.  “So many beautiful people are responsible for the end for the results of the things we love.  It could be a look, music, a film, a song, a T.V show whatever it is, requires the labor of love from an individual that may never get credit or recognized in the limelight.  These people are designer, make-up artists, techies, publicists, songwriters, media people, stylist the list goes on and on.  I think it’s a little disheartening that they must alway remain in the shadow of oblivion or in the background that many never get access to. What I wanted to do is celebrate all these people.  They deserve an award and their own moment in time, explained Dunkley.  Her thought process gave birth to her unleashing the Unlabelled awards.


The Unlabelled awards recognizes the extraordinary efforts of ordinary people who brave enough dream.  Dunkley is the first to tell you that she see herself as one of these individuals.  I’m an entrepreneur, I’m mom but I have a dream and I have goals like everyone else. I’m going to make it my mission to shine and make sure many others do as well.  I want people to push themselves to be great no matter what barriers are in their way, no matter how old they are no matter what they don’t have.  I believe that everything is possible-even the impossible.”

Who does not want to look at and buy luxury watches hosted by WatchTime in a majestic setting
like Gotham Hall with two BMW cars outside on October 23th and October 24th.  A watch is more
just a watch.
There were over 1,000 guests that were wrist watch collectors, enthusiasts and press. Here we able
to see the newest additions that on display. Some have not been by the American public.
Among the notable attendees were professional boxer and commentator Paulie Malignaggi and
actor Dwayne Hill who attended the VIP reception. They treated VIP guests to offer special offers
like BMW, offered chauffeur service to VIP guests; Delta Airlines, which hosted a life­size first-
class cabin with flight attendants serving wine; SLH Hotel Group, which provided discounted
rooms for out­of­town attendees
It was more intimate to observe their fabulous watches where one could interact with the experts of
20 leading watch companies with some of rare and limited editions. The exhibitors were A. Lange
& Sohne, Armin Strom, Bell & Ross, Breguet, Blancpain, Carl F. Bucherer, Emmanuel Bouchet,
F.P. Journe, Moritz Grossmann, Nomos, Porsche Design, RGM, Seiko, Tutima, Ulysse Nardin,
The experts were very upbeat and informative. Also, we had the privilege of watching some master
craftsman demonstrations.

This was there first event in NYC and it was a blast. I am looking forward to covering and

Labeling women as crazy



I hate when men call women crazy. I hate when women call other women crazy. First, if we were suffering from mental illnesses, the term “crazy” would be insensitive. As we’re not, it’s just wrong.

It’s a way of saying: You have emotions and that scares me. You’re acting in a way that I cannot control, which makes me uncomfortable, so I’m just going to dismiss you by calling you crazy.

Crazy is so convenient. When you break up with someone, you don’t have to go into the nuanced complexities of the relationship. Nah, just say she’s crazy.

In my conversations with men, they never call their current girlfriends or love interests crazy. It's always the woman who gets this title after things turn sour.

Sometimes women turn into complete lunatics when dealing with the wrong guy, and there was always a common denominator in all of their situations.

All we want is for men to actually listen when we talk and to make an effort to please us.

Women may talk a lot, but none of our words are fruitless. There is truly a message behind our madness.

"Crazy" is defined as senseless, impractical and completely unsound actions — and that does not describe our outbursts.

The Five Deadly Words

There are certain words that are applied to women specifically in order to manipulate them into compliance: “Slut”, “Bitch”, “Ugly/Fat” and of course, “Crazy”. These words encapsulate what society defines as the worst possible things a woman can be. Slut-shaming is used to coerce women into restricting their own sexuality into a pre-approved vision of feminine modesty and restraint. “Bitch” is used against women who might be seen as being too aggressive or assertive… acting, in other words, like a man might. “Ugly” or “Fat” are used – frequently interchangeably – to remind them that their core worth is based on a specific definition of beauty, and to deviate from it is to devalue not only oneself but to render her accomplishments or concerns as invalid.

“Crazy” may well be the most insidious one of the four because it encompasses so much. At its base, calling women “crazy” is a way of waving away any behavior that men might find undesirable while simultaneously absolving those same men from responsibility. Why did you break up with her? Well, she was crazy. Said something a woman might find offensive? Stop being so sensitive.

Women are not crazy. I'm not in denial or defending absurd actions. I just think there's a more accurate word.

"Annoyed" is fitting. "Peeved" is even better. Crazy, though? Absolutely not.

Michelle Obama launches #62girls campaign


First Lady Michelle Obama said getting girls educated is the key to solving many of the world’s ills, lamenting the 62 million girls worldwide who are unable to go to school.

“For me, this is personal. When I think about those 62 million girls that aren’t in school, I think about myself. I think about my daughters,” Obama said at an event at Harlem’s Apollo Theater Tuesday hosted by Glamour magazine. I see myself in these girls. I see my daughters in these girls. These girls are our girls, and I simply can't walk away from them. So for me, this is truly a moral issue.

“If we want to end global poverty, if we want to improve the plight of our country, educating girls is the key to all of that. It just is.”


And Obama offered plenty of personal advice for the audience of American high school girls on getting through the travails of being a teenager - focus on school, don’t sweat the small stuff, and don’t go for boys who are “too stupid” to appreciate a smart woman.

“There is no boy at this age that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting your education,” said Obama, who recounted commuting three hours a day by bus to go to a public magnet high school in her native Chicago.

“If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute when I was your age, I wouldn’t be married to the President of the United States.”

Techniques You Need to Know to Prepare you for the Future of Seo 

Change is inevitable and apart of our everyday evolution to become better, smarter individuals in our society.  The forever changing internet world is no different than the world in which we live and is subject to rules that will never change such as gravity, our need for oxygen, and water. Search Engines have been updated with new algorithms to safe guard spam and help people to find exactly what they are looking for online quicker and easier.  No one knows what the future is, but there are certain Techniques that will still apply in SEO that will reign supreme in the coming years over the outdated techniques that will become obsolete in the upcoming algorithm updates. 

After working with hundreds of customers, building their brand, social media presence, and optimizing their website content, our Tech contributor, Gerald Long II CEO of AdsManagerPro has created a list of 5 Techniques that he believes will still determine your rank in search engines in 10 years or more. 

1. Super Content 
    Its called Super Content cause its supposed to be high quality and stronger than normal content than most people post on similar subjects. You want to make sure you content is engaging and offers learning material for your readers so they can grow with your business and learn from you.  You’ll get more visitors and (CTR) click through rate will be higher with higher quality content. If running running ads on your website this will generate more revenue.

    The SEO reason for Super Content is you need it to rank higher in the search engines based on clicks, searches, shares, and overall engagement with your content. The more people who engage with your content the higher it will rank regardless of how many black hat seo tricks they use one spam sites you will over come them in the algorithm changes, and its best not to focus solely on getting to the number 1 search rank slot but for you to make sure your content is searchable and delivers high quality content to your customers to build loyal customer base. 

2. Keywords
    Without being descriptive enough about your content and what its about will lead Super Content to being overlooked by your customers. There are better descriptive words that can be used to drive more search traffic and return visitors to your website.  When your building your website make sure you use the best keyword to describe the url link so that search engines will display your website in searches.  The keywords used in the content can also have a great impact on your CTR and drive more traffic to your website.
Using the wrong keywords will do the opposite, and bury your website urls and blog posts under the spam sites where no one can find them in the searches.  If this happens you’ll waste more money trying to build your SEO and your website will become ineffective in searches. 
3. Optimize Website 
    Websites have the same principals as a textbook of information in which there are table of contents, foreword, chapters, sections, and appendix sections to help people find what they want to read in the book better. To optimize your website build it like a textbook, and create a sitemap (table of contents) which labels all the pages (chapters) links and contents (sections) for people to easily navigate the website. Search Engine crawlers is what search engines like Google use to find content and determine what’s on a website to optimize the search. It will read your website like a table of contents and rank it based on engagement and clicks/shares to determine if the information is important to its readers before the post search results.  Make sure your url are in order on a sitemap and organize your website so you can gain more visitors and traffic leading to sales. 

4. Social Media Presence 
    It should be obvious but if you don’t have a social media presence your not going to have anyway to share your Super Content to. Your website needs an audience, just like a movie release needs moviegoers. Try to research and learn more about which social media services will help your business the most before you build your social media platform, but optimize it by adding your website link (back linking) back to your website which will create social media traffic. Each followers or like you receive can see your future posts about your content and decide to click to learn more about your business.
